Yorkshire Terriers are excellent outgoing and energetic companions. They are extremely intelligent, loyal and affectionate. Yorkies are well socialized and eager to please their owner. They are excellent watch dogs and can be overly protective. Yorkies are excellent for the home environment and anyone who has allergies. Rather than fur, they have hair much like human hair, which grows continuously and therefore they do not shed. Yorkies are known for their beautiful silky coats.

The demand for the Parti-Color Yorkie has increased over the years. A Parti-color yorkie is a purebred Yorkshire terrier with tri coloration which varies from black and white to gold and tan. The classification for Parti Yorkies has been recognized by AKC since 2000. Parti Yorkie is any Yorkshire terrier with white coloration combined with black and tan. Parent genes determine the ultimate color of the Yorkie and the parti-color gene is recessive in the traditional Yorkie. In order to have a parti-colored puppy in the litter both of the parents must carry the recessive parti color gene. That is the only way a parti Yorkie can be born.
